         YAVUZELİ DISTRICT
         Yavuzeli, 40 kms to the city center of Gaziantep, the altitude is 650 meters and the area is 483 square kilometers. According to the address-based population registration system of 2012, the total population of the city is 21.200, and the population of the city center is 3.686. Although, there is no certain information about the history of the district, its old name is Cingife and it is said to be an old Genoese city, 1 km to the city center now on the steps of Karadağ. During the Mercidabık War in 1517, Yavuz Sultan Selim wanted to name here ‘The city of Yavuz’ due to its naturel beauties and interest of the local people to the Sultan.. Cingife was changed in to ‘Yavuzeli’ in 1958 and it became a district in the same year. The economy depends on agriculture and stock raising. Cotton, wheat, barley, lentil, chickpea, grape, pistachio and fruits are grown. The most important historical place of Yavuzeli district is Hromglia, on the shores of the Euphrates where the Euphrates and Merziman stream join. There is the 4. Murad Bridge and Karapınar spring water, used in the district as drinking water . There is a small lake here and it is used as a picnic area.
